Part 1 of a four part series of posts where I will share how CampaignPress websites using WordPress allow a candidate to execute the OODA Loop faster than the competition’s website. In this first part I will share an understanding of what is the OODA Loop. And why the OODA Loop is a good foundation for knowing how you can win an election.
The OODA Loop is thought by many to be the most significant advance in understanding the process of winning since The Art of War by Sun Tzu, over two thousand years ago.
The OODA Loop, also sometimes referred to as the Boyd Cycle, was created by Korean War fighter pilot and Pentagon consultant John Boyd. It is a strategic/tactical decision cycle he developed and refined. According to Boyd the key to victory is to be able to make appropriate decisions more quickly than one’s opponent.
The fastest to execute the OODA Loop wins. That is why we build into every CampaignPress website multiple tools to help you process the OODA Loop decision cycle … fast.
This short version explanation from The Atlantic is a great summary –
The OODA loop, for Observe, Orient, Decide, and Act, essentially means getting inside your adversary’s head. Whether we’re talking about a football game, a battlefield engagement, a courtroom showdown, or a political campaign, it means anticipating the other side’s most likely next move, and responding in a way that counters it, faster than the opponent can adjust.
